Another Swap Week- Part 3
By RogerGirl
After an amazing night with my girlfriend, I come home to find Sabrina making breakfast in the kitchen. Unlike Brian who considers cereal breakfast, Sabrina is cooking eggs and bacon. I can smell coffee and there is fresh squeezed orange juice on the table. She has her iPod playing "Roar" by Katy Perry and she is singing along and dancing to the music in her tank top and lounge shorts. I have to laugh a little at this. It's not that it is a particularly funny situation, I often do that too when I cook. What's funny is how different Sabrina is from Brian. It's nice to see that he is getting into character so well. I can also tell she didn't hear me come in and hasn't seen me yet. I look around and Sam is nowhere in sight, nor is his car parked outside. I've never been one to pry since Sabrina is eighteen now and I trust her to make good decisions, but I am curious to know how her date went last night.
"Good morning, honey," I say as I walk into the kitchen.
"Morning dad," she says as she gives me a hug and a kiss, "I made us breakfast."
I sit down and she serves me a plate with bacon, eggs, and toast. She also pours me a cup of coffee and a glass orange juice. Hesitantly, I taste the eggs and I have to admit she's a pretty good cook. Apparently she's been practicing for Swap Week. She serves herself some breakfast and sits down at the table with me. She smiles at me and I try to find the right words to ask her about her date. I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable.
"So, did you have fun with Sam last night?" I ask casually.
"Yeah," she replies calmly, "He took me out to dinner and then we walked around the mall for a while."
"Oh," I say, "Did you do anything else?"
"No," she answers, "He just took me home after that and then he left."
Judging from the tone of her response, I can tell that she wasn't holding anything back. While she may look like a girl, act like a girl, and sound like a girl, she isn't thinking like a girl yet. I assume as the week goes on she will start thinking more like a woman. Unlike Kelly who has had many years of Swap Week experience and is able to fully jump into the female mindset, this is only Sabrina's first Swap Week and she is clearly still getting used to it all. When she changes the subject, I can tell she isn't comfortable asking me about my date so I decide not to dwell on it for the time being.
After breakfast Sabrina washes the dishes and then we both go upstairs to get ready for our day together. While we have found things to do together as mother and son, I'm still not used to our new relationship as father and daughter. We decide to invite Kelly and Sam to spend the day with us in San Francisco. Although we had planned to do something that was just the two of us, for now we need a little help building our new relationship. It's not long before we are all in the car together driving to the city. Sam and I sit in the front while Kelly and Sabrina sit in the backseat. Looking at the two of them talking and laughing together, they could almost pass as sisters. I had Brian when I was eighteen and Kenny is ten years younger than I am, so their age difference isn't that far apart.

Having each had Swap Week and real life experience, they both provide
us with tips on how to build on our relationship. Sam shares
stories from his real life as Samantha and various activities her and
her father do together, while Kelly tells us how she spent time with her
dad during Swap Week. While Sam has both his parents, Kelly grew
up with just her dad. While her dad had some trouble getting used
to having a daughter at first, by the time she was a senior they had
built a pretty strong relationship when Swap Week came around.
Like me, Kelly's father did not grow up in Sutter's Valley and
moved here as an adult.
We park
the car and look around a few shops. Kelly is very much in the
mindset of a woman and is not afraid to kiss me in public.
Sabrina, however, is less confident and only holds onto Sam's hand
as we walk around. Most likely it is only to avoid being hit on
by men. While the girls try on clothes, Sam and I talk and get to
know each other better. Sam tells me that he will be playing
basketball this Swap Week and that he will also be working at his dad's
auto shop. I tell him I will be coaching soccer and he wishes me
good luck. Soon the conversation turns toward the topic of dating
and he tells me that he was nervous about dating girls his first couple
Swap Weeks, but over time got more comfortable and had a girlfriend last
year. When he is with a girl, he thinks of himself as a man and
not as a girl in drag. So far, he and Sabrina have only done a
little kissing, but Sabrina isn't ready to go any further yet.
After doing some shopping, the four of us grab a quick lunch. We
don't want to spend too much time eating so that Sabrina and I can have
some father-daughter time together. After lunch we head home and
Sam and Kelly say their goodbyes. Sam gives Sabrina a kiss and
Sabrina looks embarrassed. I tell her not to be shy about it and
that it is OK for her to kiss her boyfriend. I remind her that she
isn't a boy this week and that she should think like a girl. I
continue to prove my point by giving Kelly a long kiss goodbye.
Sabrina considers this and she and Sam kiss again.
Once they leave, the two of us head out to play some miniature golf.
We have a good time and play a few more games. In the end, I
end up winning more games, but I can tell Sabrina may have been
distracted by the attention the boys were giving her. After golf,
we go out for pizza and sodas at our favorite pizza place. Even
though we know the owner pretty well, he doesn't recognize us in our
Swap Week identities. As we eat, we open up to each other about
how we are handling Swap Week so far. Naturally, there are still a
few things we are both uncomfortable about, but we both plan to work on
them. Of course, I don't tell her that Kelly and I had sex the
night before.
After dinner, we go
home and watch a little TV together before going to bed. Tomorrow
is the first day of Swap Week and we both have a lot to get ready for.
Sabrina will be trying out for both cheerleading and the dance
team and I have early soccer tryouts and have to figure out how to be a
good soccer coach. We tell each other good night and go to bed.
